Marine Energy Databases

The list below compiles and provides access to external databases. While the respective scopes of each of the databases are varied, all convey information relevant to marine renewable energy. The list of databases is not exhaustive and will be updated as needed. If you have comments on incorrect or missing material, please email

Title Technology Type Country Description
Supergen ORE Hub Research Landscape Current, Tidal, Wave United Kingdom The Supergen ORE Hub Research Landscape is an interactive web tool that allows you to explore the latest information, research and technical challenges across the offshore wind, wave and tidal energy sectors. With information drawn from across academia, industry and policy makers, the tool is intended to provide an open and easily accessible data source of current research within offshore renewable energy which can be used by a range of stakeholders.
Telesto Current, Wave, Salinity Gradient, OTEC United States of America Telesto provides information and guidance for testing, measurement, and data analysis for marine energy research, development, and demonstration. It also features the Testing Facilities Database, a collection of device testing facilities, and the Sensor and Instrumentation Database, a catalogued collection of sensors and instruments used by the marine energy industry. Telesto is one of several Knowledge Hubs within the Portal and Repository for Information on Marine Renewable Energy (PRIMRE) system.
Tethys Current, Wave, Salinity Gradient, OTEC United States of America Tethys is an online knowledge management system that provides access to information on the environmental effects of wind and marine renewable energy. Launched by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to support the U.S. Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies Office and Wind Energy Technologies Office, Tethys houses thousands of peer reviewed papers, technical reports, geospatial content, and other media and metadata. Tethys is one of several Knowledge Hubs within the Portal and Repository for Information on Marine Renewable Energy (PRIMRE) system.
UK Marine Energy Database (UKMED) Current, Wave United Kingdom Renewable UK's Marine Energy Database (UKMED) is a growing map and database of wave and tidal sites in the UK. The interactive map enables users to view project details including technology type, ownership, and project status.
UKDMOS United Kingdom The United Kingdom Directory of Marine Observing Systems (UKDMOS), is a unique internet-based searchable database of marine monitoring conducted by UK organizations. Aiming to fulfill the basic requirement to know where, when and what is being monitored in the marine environment around the UK and provide information to help coordinate monitoring across different organizations, UKDMOS is a tool for searching monitoring programs and series based on information such as the parameters measured or the frequency of measurements taken. UKDMOS is managed and updated by the Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN).
Wave & Tidal Knowledge Network (WTKN) Current, Wave United Kingdom The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult's Wave & Tidal Knowledge Network (WTKN) is an open access database that contains reports, datasets, and project data related to environmental impacts and consents, grid connections, health and safety, and more.
