You are invited to join the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) at its annual Science Festival open day at its wave energy test site at Billia Croo.
This is an opportunity to find out how Orkney is leading the world in the development of wave and tidal energy. You’ll learn about innovative projects harnessing the power from Orkney’s seas, monitoring the environment and wildlife, storing power as green hydrogen, and the creation of e-fuels to decarbonise aviation.
Guided tours will begin around every 20 minutes (dependent on group sizes). Tour duration will be approximately 40-50 minutes.
Admission is free, and parking is available on site. Sensible footwear must be worn (no high heels or open-toe shoes); warm, waterproof clothing and sun protection is advised. Please contact the coordinators at info@emec.org.uk if you have any accessibility requirements (eg wheelchair access) and they will do their best to accommodate you.
