This workshop is scheduled from 3-5 March 2026. The time on this entry is a placeholder and is not representative of the workshop schedule.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has joined the larger scientific community in the promotion of data management as a means to higher quality, more efficient research and analysis, and as a critical component of data science. Tools and platforms to support data management and analysis are rapidly evolving and provide enormous opportunities. They also pose challenges that can be specific to DOE but are common across DOE mission areas and organizations.
The DOE Data Day workshop, abbreviated to D3, was born from this critical work. D3’s primary goals are:
- Bring DOE institutions together to share their data management use cases, challenges, and solutions;
- Identify potential synergies and efficiencies; and
- Establish proactive channels for future collaborations.
D3 will provide a forum to collaborate on data management ideas and strategies and build an actionable plan forward to drive innovation and progress across DOE and NNSA. It brings together data management practitioners, researchers, and project managers from DOE and the national laboratories to promote data management as a means to higher quality and more efficient research and analysis.
The event crosses program boundaries and mission areas, with participants exploring best practices and the latest technologies to help DOE researchers leverage new techniques, respond to data security threats, and advance fundamental science in valuable ways.
The unclassified portion of the workshop will include presentations and posters from the DOE data management community covering 2 themes:
- Data Infrastructure and Workflows
- Data Curation and Governance
Panel and Breakout sessions will provide the opportunity to delve further into high interest topics and facilitate collaboration across institutions.
Call for Abstracts for the UNCLASSIFIED sessions will go out on December 8th. The deadline to submit abstracts will be January 9th.
An abstract call will not be included for the classified-day and presentations will be by invitation only. More information will be included on the website during registration.
