Decomissioning
Decommissioning refers to the partial or complete removal of a device at the end of its lifespan. In the context of marine energy, decommissioning typically encompasses the full recovery and transport of a device from its offshore site and the removal of the device’s export cables and substructure or mooring system, both of which may require highly specialized personnel, vessels and technologies.
