European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water Column Observatory (EMSO)
The European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water-Column Observatory (EMSO) is a distributed, multidisciplinary research infrastructure involving eight European member states: Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Ireland, Norway, Greece, and Romania. Established on the ESFRI Roadmap in 2006 and formalized as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) in 2016, EMSO aims to explore, monitor, and understand oceanic phenomena and their critical impact on the Earth system.
