Harbor and Marine Technology Center
The Institute of Harbor and Marine Technology (IHMT) was established in February, 1981, as an affiliate to the Department of Transportation of the Taiwan Provincial Government. In August 2001,IHMT became the Harbor and Marine Technology Center (HMTC) and was merged as a subdivision of IOT.
The major duties of the center, especially in the early stage since its installment, include: researches and developments of harbor- and ocean-related engineering techniques; education and training of engineers in related professions; resolving practical problems associated with harbor or marine construction works and coastal zone developments; etc. In recent years, with the demands of greater undertaking of enterprising the managements and operations of ports and harbors, we have also aligned our efforts in this direction.
