National Inter-University Consortium for Marine Sciences (CoNISMa)

CoNISMa - National Inter-university Consortium for Marine Sciences aims to promote and coordinate research and other scientific and applicative activities in the field of marine sciences, encouraging collaboration between the member universities and other universities, public and private bodies research, local and territorial bodies, production structures.

The consortium was established on 21 February 1994 , on the initiative of Prof. Francesco Maria Faranda. It is non-profit, has legal personality (MIUR Ministerial Decree 03.15.1996 and 05.16.1996) and is placed under the supervision of the Ministry of University and Research ; is registered in the National Research Registry (n. 515810DU); and is part of the European Marine Board.
