The Canary Islands Oceanic Platform ( PLOCAN ) is a Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) aimed at promoting the development of knowledge and technologies for the responsible and sustainable use of the ocean, in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals and the strategy of blue growth established in the scope of the European Union . It has been partially co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) within the framework of the FEDER Operative Program for the Canary Islands 2007-2013, in Axis 1 "Development of the Knowledge Economy", Priority Theme 02 with a co-financing rate of 85%. %. PLACANIt is financed and managed by a consortium formed 50% by the Government of the Canary Islands and 50% by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Government of Spain .
