Abstract
A MATLAB based analysis was carried out to model an ammonia-based ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) power plant. This project presents an analysis using ammonia (NH3) or R-717 as the primary working fluid in a closed cycle system, also known as the Anderson cycle. The goal of the system is to produce 100 kW of gross power. Parameters such as turbine and pump efficiency are varied in order to assess impact on overall system efficiency and performance.
