Chandigarh University was established in 2012 by the Punjab State Legislature through The Chandigarh University Act, evolving from the Chandigarh Group of Colleges founded in 2001 by Satnam Singh Sandhu in Landran, Mohali. The university is located at Gharuan in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district and is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f), with the authority to confer degrees under Section 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956. CU emphasizes research, innovation, and international collaboration, with substantial patent activity and partnerships with over 530 universities worldwide.
