Abstract
Tidal technologies become more and more important for the ocean energy industry. Matured technologies for harvesting energy from currencies are the key driver to emerge projects and sites on a high reliability and cost efficient level. Requirements and demands for the design of drivetrains for tidal turbines are similar to the wind-industry. Thus, tidal turbine concepts can participate from experience and solutions made in and for the wind-industry. The contribution will refer to experience and best practice within tidal projects. A concept study for different drivetrain solutions might enable developers to use technologies to realize more compact and cost efficient drivetrains. Detailed descriptions for the implemented technologies will provide a deeper knowledge and understanding for drivetrain forces, vibration isolation, damping and reduction of residual forces to the audience..
