Abstract
Demand for energy resources is significantly increase over the years in line with the fast economic development. However, with the decline of fossil fuels and stringent policies on pollution issues it has influence the development trend to look for renewable energy such tidal energy. Tidal energy is formed from a change in the gravitational field caused by relative motion between moon and earth. Energy of the tides is converted to electricity using various technologies and approaches. This paper reviews the status of tidal energy technology worldwide and discusses the factors affecting its successful implementation.
