Abstract
Renewable sources of energy are becoming increasingly attractive to developing countries keen to promote economic growth and self-reliance. India, with its vast coastline and high waves approaching the shore is, it is argued, an excellent candidate for the development of technology to extract energy from wave forces. Satellite data, from GEOSAT, has been used to estimate the wave energy resources available for potential exploitation.
