Rockwell International was a major American diversified manufacturing conglomerate that existed from the 1970s until the early 2000s, with roots in North American Aviation, founded in 1928. Known for its involvement in aerospace, electronics, automotive, and industrial automation, the company sold its aerospace and defense businesses to Boeing in 1996 and later spun off its avionics and auto divisions. The company ultimately ceased operations in 2001, with its industrial automation arm continuing as Rockwell Automation and its avionics business becoming Rockwell Collins.
