Power Take Off
The power take off (PTO) system of a device is the mechanism with which the absorbed energy by the primary converter is transformed into usable energy. Most PTO systems incorporate a mechanical or hydraulic drive train, power generator, and an electrical control system. The design of a marine renewable energy device’s PTO directly affects the device’s overall structural design, performance, maintenance requirements, and levelized cost of energy.
