Tezpur University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1994, aiming to provide employment-oriented and interdisciplinary courses that cater to the local and regional aspirations of Assam. The university is situated in Napaam, about 15 km east of Tezpur, and spans 262 acres of land donated by Kalaguru Bishnuprasad Rava.
