Abstract
In the present paper, an experimental analysis for a wave energy converter (WEC) under extreme conditions is carried out. After the definition of design wave conditions, including a 100-year return period stochastic sea state and a deterministic focused wave condition, motions and forces are analysed from experiments carried out at the Seakeeping Basin of the Technical university of Berlin. Obtained results are discussed with special emphasis on the relevance of the definition of extreme wave conditions for early design stages.
