First Institute of Oceanography (FIO)

First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) of China, being the predecessor of the Fourth Marine Research Institute of Chinese Navy, was established in 1958 and incorporated into SOA system in 1964. As a comprehensive marine research institute, FIO occupies two campuses (Laoshan campus and Aoshan campus) of over 11.3 ha. and is engaged in basic/applied research in oceanography and social service, FIO takes aims at enhancing marine S&T and providing technical supports for marine resources management, marine security and economic development.
