Atlantic Marine Energy Center (AMEC)
It was established in 2021 by the University of New Hampshire, Lehigh University, Stony Brook University, and the Coastal Studies Institute. The Atlantic Marine Energy Center (AMEC) is a national research center that advances marine energy technologies like wave, tidal, and ocean current energy, as well as blue economy applications such as aquaculture. AMEC is a university-led consortium that performs research, testing, and education to develop renewable energy solutions for coastal communities. The center supports the development of marine energy devices through partnerships with other national labs and provides access to test sites to help commercialize these technologies.
