The Polytechnic of Lisbon is a high-level public higher education institution, oriented towards the creation, transmission and dissemination of knowledge, culture and arts, science and technology, through the articulation of study, teaching, research, development and knowledge transfer, its mission is to produce, teach and disseminate knowledge, art and culture, as well as provide services to the community in the areas in which it has competences, contributing to its consolidation as a reference institution at national and international level.

IPL's institutional vision is based on the quality of its activities, with a view to continuous improvement, promoting solid, relevant and highly qualified training for its graduates, which contributes to their integration into the world of work.
