Lab Data
Lab data is data collected in a laboratory setting, rather than in the field. In the context of marine renewable energy, an example of data obtained in a lab may include measurements of a device’s performance under emulated operating conditions in an experimental flume or wave tank. Data collection in a laboratory setting may similarly allow for more controlled and cost-effective analyses of a device’s hydrodynamics, acoustics, and survivability than data collection in a field setting.
