Hydrodynamics

Interactions between fluids and device structures.

Hydrodynamics refers to the interactions between fluids and device structures. In the context of marine renewable energy, hydrodynamics is typically discussed in relation to array effects, performance, and control. Common focuses of research include, recovery from turbulent wake fields and how this affects device spacing within a tidal array, as well as performance testing in different conditions. Hydrodynamic studies may involve experimental analysis of wake characteristics or the use of computational fluid dynamics modeling.
