Field data is data collected in a real-world scenario, rather than in an office or laboratory setting. In the context of marine renewable energy, examples of data obtained in the field may include measurements of a device’s performance or acoustic output once deployed offshore. Similarly, site characterization typically involves extensive collection of field data such as wave height and bathymetry.
