Structural refers to the design of a device or its components. The design of a marine renewable energy device directly affects the device’s performance, maintenance requirements, survivability, and levelized cost of energy. Similarly, the design of a device must take hydrodynamics, material properties, and the available manufacturing processes into consideration.
