Survivability

How a device survives in the ocean (e.g., planned lifespan, fatigue studies).

Survivability refers to how a device survives in the ocean and its durability. In the context of marine renewable energy, survivability is typically discussed in relation to a device’s performance under varying operational conditions or during extreme events. For a given application, survivability is typically quantified by specifying the range of conditions over which the device will survive or perform effectively. Two subcategories that are also tracked include debris and ice.
